By linking all available data sources (e.g. real-time sensor data, subjective assessments by technicians, data from production and research, etc.), significantly better information is obtained for decision-making. Big Data provides the basis for the fine-grained visibility that creates transparency in the production process. Instead of a 'gut feeling' there is a thorough analysis of the production process.

  • Our project operates in a large international market. The further fast and high development of the medical cannabis market will be driven by deregulation and rising medical needs for the use of Cannabis.

How factories change production to quickly fight coronavirus

Scenario

  • Switching products can be faster and easier than you might imagine – and can help businesses survive, too.

Objective

  • In early March, the CEO of a German-based company called an emergency meeting to discuss the future of their company. “We suddenly had a business with no customers or income – and if we didn’t do something, and do it very, very quickly, we’d also have no business,” explains the CEO. “How do we keep our business running? How do we save the team’s jobs?”

Outcome

  • The team made a quick and novel decision: We would change the production to to battle against Covid 19. Technical innovation and collaboration will move forward in a significantly different way. Many of the rapid Covid-19 innovations have already spread far and wide. The limiting factor comes down to some parts and some components, as well as the whole supply chain. We realized the need of diversify in the face of the pandemic. "What you first have to have is a really granular understanding of what kind of assets are required for a new product: what kind of equipment and what kind of competencies [among workers]," Christoph Girth, "If the gap is too far, you will not be able to bridge it."
